Peter has significant experience advising on international competition law / antitrust investigations, global merger control proceedings, counseling and compliance.
Peter has acted for multinational companies in relation to their operations in Europe, the US and in Asia, including Hong Kong and China, particularly those active in the pharmaceuticals, chemicals, oil and gas, basic materials, transport and financial services sectors.
He has acted on a number of high-profile international competition law investigations, including for The Volvo Group in the European Commission’s investigation into the truck sector, Citigroup in the European Commission’s investigation into credit default swaps market, and an international shipping company in the European Commission’s investigation into the car shipping industry.
He has also advised multinational companies on regional antitrust issues including in high-profile cross-border transactions like The Dow Chemical Company on its US$130 billion merger with DuPont; McDonald’s Corporation on the sale of a majority stake of its businesses in PRC and Hong Kong to CITIC Limited, CITIC Capital Holdings and The Carlyle Group, and GlaxoSmithKline on its three-part, multi-billion dollar transaction with Novartis.
Prior to joining Deacons, Peter worked at the competition practice of a top-tier US law firm in Brussels and Hong Kong.
