Robert is one of Hong Kong’s premier commercial disputes lawyers, regularly featured in the top tier of litigation and arbitration lawyers.
He is active in both litigation and international arbitration, with the latter becoming more important over recent years. Robert is currently running a series of international arbitrations - two of these involving claims of US$200 million plus.
He has particular experience in commercial disputes, pre-emptive injunctions, media work (for South China Morning Post, Google, YouTube and other international publishers), professional negligence (for the Hong Kong Solicitors Indemnity Fund Limited and Essar Insurance Services Limited) and other commercial indemnity insurers, in employment matters and in contentious insolvency.
He also represents Hong Kong’s leading developer (MTRC), international investment banks (e.g. Merrill Lynch), Government authorities (e.g. the Hospital Authority and Urban Renewal Authority), FTSE 100 companies, Fortune 20 companies, and leading domestic and international corporations. Robert regularly acts in multi jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary cases.

Acting for Allen & Overy in a professional negligence action for US$400 million – successful strike out for champerty:  2 HKLRD 86 and  3 HKLRD 292 [currently on appeal].
Acting for Google in a novel “publisher” case challenging the Hong Kong Court’s jurisdiction over Google: HCA 1383/2012 [unreported judgment of DHCJ M. Ng dated 5 August 2014].
Acting for the Chinachem Group in a successful application for inspection under Section 152FA of the former Companies Ordinance:  3 HKLRD 652.
Acting for Mr. Paul Chan Mo-Po (the Development Secretary) and his wife in defence of a libel claim: HCA 370/2012 [unreported judgment of Mr. Justice To dated 13 February 2014].
Acting for a Japanese company in a very significant international arbitration in the HKIAC which is ongoing.
