Impressive local knowledge meets heavyweight resources

We have the knowledge and resources to help your real estate sales and acquisitions progress smoothly.

Whether your real estate sale or purchase forms part of a wider corporate transaction or is a standalone deal, it pays to understand the local market conditions.

As Hong Kong’s leading, and longest-established independent law firm, Deacons has considerable experience of handling all types of real estate transaction in the Hong Kong market. These range from deals involving individual properties, joint sale of properties in blocks, land grant and exchange, tenders and auctions, and structured transactions for major companies, as well as complex deals involving large real estate portfolios.

Clients rely on us to coordinate everything smoothly, from advising on the best structure, negotiating finance and helping with real estate taxes, to completing on time and providing ongoing advice on property management. And they know that, whatever the size of deal, they benefit from our commitment to the highest standards of client service. For example, we have recently:

  • Acted for Nan Fung Group in the disposal of a block of commercial real estate for HK$2.9 billion. This substantial transaction involved over 180 separate tenancies, as well as advice on an option offered to the buyer to acquire shares in the holding company;
  • Assisted the American International Assurance Company (Bermuda) Limited with its acquisition of a large commercial building. Another highly complex and extremely large (close to HK$2.4 billion) transaction, this involved difficult title issues, as well as reviewing over 70 tenancy and licence agreements;
  • Acting for Urban Redevelopments Facilitating Services Company Limited in a joint sale of a potential redevelopment site comprising 80 owners.

If you would like to discuss in detail how we could help you with your real estate transactions, we would be delighted to hear from you.
