Deacons' Entertainment Practice Group in the American Film Market (AFM) 10 November 2006 Charmaine Koo and Michael Leow of Deacons’ Entertainment Practice Group attended the American Film Market (AFM) held in Los Angeles from 1-8 November. AFM is the largest gathering of film industry professionals in North America and this year, AFM hit a record-breaking attendance of over 9,000 attendees, including acquisition and development executives, agents, directors, distributors, financiers, producers, writers and lawyers. Michael attended the AFM Legal Committee meeting which focused on Internet and Wireless distribution. Charmaine was invited to be speaker on a panel at the AFM seminar entitled "Hong Kong as an Asian Co-production Centre" which was programmed by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Fellow panellists include distinguished film industry personnel Nansun Shi (a well known HK producer), Lee Beasley (Head of Media and Entertainment of the Standard Chartered Bank) and Han Sanping (General Manager of China Film Group Corporation, the largest film studio in China). The seminar was attended by over 200 people confirming the enormous interest in Hong Kong and China in the Entertainment industry.
